- Export your records before you cancel, including transactions and receipts.
- Time it around MTD. If you're in MTD, switching mid-year means your new software must pick up cumulative quarterly updates from 6 April [4]. Switching at the start of a tax year is cleaner.
- Check the new tool is on HMRC's compatible list [5].
- Reconnect bank feeds and check categories match.
- Run both for a month if you can, to check figures agree.
